RALLY AND VIGIL: Saturday, August 23rd

On Saturday, August 23rd, we will be having our final rally of the Olympics, joining protests happening all around the world.  As one of the largest exile communities in the world, we urge all Tibetans in Toronto to attend this protest while the international media spotlight remains on Tibet and the Olympics.

What:  Rally from Parkdale to Chinese Consulate
Where: Gather at PCI (Jameson Ave and Queen St)
When: 10 am, Saturday, August 23rd

In the evening of August 23rd, we will also be holding a candle-light vigil as part of the global Candle4Tibet light protest.

CLOSING CEREMONY: Sunday, August 24th

On August 24th, we will have the concluding ceremony of JAC's month long events in the spirit of Olympic Uprising with the TYC organized soccer match at Lamport Stadium and Rangzen songs from Amchok Gompo and Rangzen Shunu (youth). Please join us to celebrate it together at Lamport Stadium, which is located at King Street West and Fraser Ave - two blocks away from King and Dufferin intersection towards downtown. Olympics Calendar of Events, in Toronto for August:

Thursday, August 7th – 1) Rally from Parkdale to Chinese Consulate. Gather at 10am at Parkdale Collegiate Institute.

2) Candle4Tibet Vigil at TCC – 40 Titan Road , Etobicoke @ 8 PM.

Friday, August 8th – Rally from Queen's Park to Chinese Consulate with China Rights Network and Burmese community. Gather at Queen's Park at 10 am.

Saturday, August 9th – Public prayer for the thousands of people who have lost their lives in Tibet, Gyurme Khensur Thutop Rimpoche will attend, will start at 11 am at TCCC @ 40 Titan Road, Etobicoke, lunch will be served by JAC, everyone is requested to come

Monday August 11th to Thursday August 14th - Daily prayer vigil outside Chinese Consulate from 10 am – 3pm.

Friday August 15th – Buses to Ottawa for rally. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time – Tickets are available at various Tibetan Restaurants and Shops. For further info, contact Salden la @ 416-276-4394.

Saturday, August 16th – Bike for Tibet event – a bike ride throughout Toronto 's downtown to start from PCI at 11 AM.

Monday, August 18th – Cheri Dinovo's movie at Revue Cinema ( 400 Roncesvalles Avenue ) with presentations by JAC @ 7 PM.

Monday August 18th – Friday, August 22nd – Daily prayer vigil outside the Chinese Consulate from 10 am – 3pm.

Thursday, August 21st – Tibet Movie Night at Bloor Cinema featuring "Dreaming Lhasa" at 7pm and "Angry Monk" at 9pm, and "Dramyen" – a short film by Tibetans in Toronto . Tickets at sftcanada.org or at the door at 6pm.

Saturday, August 23rd – Rally from Parkdale to Chinese Consulate. Gather at 10 am at PCI.

Sunday, August 24th – Olympics Closing Ceremony – with TYC soccer game, speeches, and freedom songs by local musicians. Details to be announced.
